SIEL or SPIRE? Are you registered correctly? New update:

The Export Control Joint Unit (ECJU) of the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is moving applications for a standard individual export license (SIEL) away from the current system, SPIRE, onto a new online system, Licensing for International Trade (LITE), also known as the Apply For A SIEL Service.

The service has passed an external assessment and any exporter, minus some exceptions, can now register on LITE.

Some exceptions remain, which apply to certain exporters or types of SIEL applications. Where an exception applies, you need to apply for your SIEL on SPIRE.

Please note that SPIRE is still live and all other non-SIEL applications should continue to be applied for on SPIRE, for the time being.

If you have not yet registered for LITE, you should do so now.
